We are now offering allergy testing! United Allergy Labs now provides in-house skin testing and immunotherapy for our allergy patients. For those children who have not responded to or who do not want to continue taking long-term allergy medications, immunotherapy is another solution. It all starts with skin testing to identify and quantify your child's reaction to 50 different local respiratory and environmental allergens. The test panel does not include food or medications. Our doctors will review the results and counsel you as to whether your child is a candidate for immunotherapy. If so, you will be taught how to give allergy serum injections at home. Doses are kept low initially to ensure safety. Research shows that a longer course of therapy increases the chance for lasting results. We are excited to offer this new service and encourage you to call our UAL staff with questions, or simply schedule an appointment for skin testing. If you would like to see if your child qualifies for testing please fill out the following form and return to North Raleigh Pediatrics.
Asthma Education. We now offer asthma education as part of our Medical Home project. Current asthma management guidelines recommend six-month follow-up visits. Our certified asthma educator can perform spirometry, teach proper MDI and spacer techniques and, with your doctor’s help, create an asthma plan. She will also coordinate any additional allergy skin testing to determine possible triggers and make subsequent phone calls and/or appointments.
Circumcisions. Several of our doctors recently gained privileges to perform newborn circumcisions at Rex Hospital and WakeMed. We are one of the first three local pediatric groups to be so credentialed. If you wish to have your newborn son circumcised, we will be happy to discuss the procedure during the first newborn exam, and plan to perform the procedure prior to the baby's discharge. For those parents on NC HealthChoice or Medicaid, self-pay or who deliver at another hospital, we can also perform circumcisions in the office.
Vaccinate Your Baby is a new program offered by the Academy of Pediatrics and is dedicated to offering well-informed immunization safety and dosing information for your baby. Storm/Power Outage In the unfortunate event of severe weather or a power/phone outage affecting North Raleigh Pediatrics, there are several methods to reach us. Check the online and television reports on WRAL and NC17 for delayed hours or office closings. If our telephone system malfunctions, the direct number for our answering service is 1-877-825-9657. The operators will page us or give you an alternate phone number to access our office. If your insurance company provides an after hours call-in service, you may also obtain basic medical information from their trained staff. In emergency/storm situations, urgent care centers, and local emergency facilities are also good resources.
