  • The CDC and AAP have recommended that all children with no history of chicken pox illness receive 2 doses of Varicella vaccine. Most receive one dose at 12 months. There is NO state or county requirement for the second dose to be completed before school entry. We will routinely give this second dose at 5yr checkups, and at routine physicals for older patients. Similarly, two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine are recommended ages 1-18, and three doses of Gardasil(HPV) vaccine are recommended for girls ages 9-26. We will also routinely offer Menactra (meningococcal vaccine) to patients 11 and older. We will be happy to discuss these vaccines at any office visit, and will offer them routinely at scheduled physical exams.
News
Storm/Power Outage Contact In the unfortunate event of severe weather or a power/phone outage affecting North Raleigh Pediatrics, there are several methods to reach us. Check the online and television reports on WRAL and NC17 for delayed hours or office closings. If our telephone system malfunctions, the direct number for our answering service is 1-866-276-0469. The operators will page us or give you an alternate phone number to access our office. If your insurance company provides an after hours call-in service, you may also obtain basic medical information from their trained staff. In emergency/storm situations, urgent care centers, and local emergency facilities are also good resources.

KNOW YOUR INSURANCE Our practice accepts many insurance plans; however, there are numerous subtypes of each plan. Please be aware of the specific details of your coverage. For example, treatment for warts, sutures, or wound care are considered "surgical" procedures; some insurance plans have a separate deductible for medical and surgical care. You may pay separately for such procedures if so dictated by your particular plan. Some insurance plans provide different coverage for sick versus well care, immunizations, hospitalization, etc. We advise consulting your insurance handbook or other employee coverage resources to determine your specific benefits before scheduling a physical exam or procedure appointment. Our staff will always provide detailed and coded receipts for services; however, payment is determined by the specifics of your benefit plan which are not part of our database.

New Wake County regulations state that children entering kindergarten MUST have their immunizations by the day their school year begins. A child's blue "Kindergarten Assessment" is due within 30 days of starting school. We will make every effort to accommodate patients with either a full visit, or immunization only visit as schedules allow.
